All About Resolution and Aspect Ratios
This is a basic explanation of a complex topic.

In video or graphics, the resolution is the number of pixels (picture elements) that make up an image.
The more pixels, the larger the image.
The larger the image, the larger the file size and the more memory and storage you need to manage it.

You can check the resolution of your files in Windows by right-click --> Properties

Full-screen high definition (HD) begins at 1280 x 720.
If the image or video has a lower than HD resolution, the player will scale it up (zoom in) and it will become blurry, which does not look good.
You don't need to go larger than 1920 x 1080.

Aspect ratio is the number of pixels across compared to the number of pixels top to bottom.
Calculating the aspect ratio using an online calculator like https://calculateaspectratio.com/[arrow-up- right](https://calculateaspectratio.com/).
The aspect ratios for our standard 2- or 3-zone layout are:
-
16:9 for Main
-
9:16 for Tower
Trying to fit a landscape (16:9) image into a portrait (9:16) space will leave out a lot of the image.
Trying to fit a portrait (9:16) image into a landscape (16:9) will leave black or white space on either side of the image to fill the space.
If the dimensions of the source is close enough, the slight difference may be un-noticeable.
But if the source is dramatically different, like a 1:1 square, then there will be noticeable affects in the display.
