How to hard restart the media player

When to perform a hard restart

If the player is frozen or not playing content.

If the player shows an error message.

If the player is behaving strangely or not performing as expected.

Every month or so as a good measure.

Any time you want.

Access the media player

Locate the media player, typically mounted behind the TV.

Remove the player from the mount Β

Pull the player away from the hook and loop mounting tape.

Disconnect the power connector

Pull the barrel-shaped power connector out from the player.

IMPORTANT

Wait for power to drain

Wait for at least 20 seconds so that residual power can dissipate from the internal components (longer is better than shorter).

Reconnect the power connector

Firmly re-insert the power connector into the payer.

The blue power LED light should illuminate almost immediately.

Re-secure the player to the back of the TV

Attach the player to the back of the TV using the hook and loop fastener.Β  It may require some pressure to lock in place.

Make sure the cables are tidy and will not pull or pinch once the TV is returned to its normal operating position.Β

Check power and network

Notice that the blue power LED is illuminated.

Notice that the LAN network icon or the WiFI icon illuminates (depending on your network connection).

If you do not see the power LED, attempt to re-connect the power plug, giving it a turn in either direction and pressing in firmly.

If you do not see either network icon, please follow the steps in the Network Connection Guide.
